sadly i became quite addicted to fox news during the whole american election palaver last year. but i was totally fascinated by the way they would spin events i had witnessed with my own eyes. it was a great illustration of the power and bias of media and how people will believe anything you put in front of them as long as you say it hard and often enough . "bless" is a spin off from that. i think it's actually a song about colonisation - how certain powers think they have the right to go other places and impose their will and belief systems on other people without any regard for those people or their belief systems - so convinced are these powers that their way is Right.
lyrics
we came as a favour
to pick up the blind
to look like the healer
to put them in line
and pure's our vision
it's plain black and white
the heathen will see when
we shed them the light
bless
they mean no wrong
bless them
they mean no harm
we go to those places
that they've not got quite right
point where the mistake is
put our sun in their sky
bless
they mean no wrong
bless them
they mean no harm
and let them hope that tommorrow
can live up to the hype
let them hope all they like
bless
they mean no wrong
bless them
they mean no harm
I regularly walk around Las Vegas listening to this and when I have downtime at work have also been reading about The Dead People (Shayne has) Known. He has come such a long way and grown so immensely over his long career. I'm really enjoying this album a lot. It has a a lot of feeling and soul to it. Even the photo on the cover has a homey sort of feel to it. Well done. Wendy
I've been enjoying the Bats since Daddy's Highway. They keep doing what they do and I keep enjoying what they do. What else can I say? Bat's entertainment? tideracer
